✨ Swap Date: January 2026
Today I’m sharing a beautiful card created by Sheila Moreton ❤️
This beautifully handcrafted card was created by Sheila Moreton as part of a January 2026 swap using products from the January–April 2026 Mini Catalogue.
The design features soft layering, gentle colours, and subtle sparkle that draw your eye in without feeling too busy.
The combination of patterned paper, embossed texture, and delicate details creates a card that feels both elegant and easy to enjoy.
This design features elements from the Beautifully Celebrated bundle, paired with coordinating papers and embossing to create a soft, layered look.
The soft “Thank You” sentiment immediately draws your eye, layered over delicate circles and vellum that add depth and softness. Subtle sparkle from the rhinestones and the gentle ribbon detail create a beautiful sense of balance.
✨ Let’s take a closer look
This card features a beautifully framed layout, with layers of patterned paper, gold foil, and embossed cardstock creating a soft border that adds depth and richness to the design.
The central “Thank You” sentiment forms the focal point of the card, layered over soft die-cut circles and vellum that add depth while keeping the overall look light and elegant.
Delicate embellishments complete the design, with a soft ribbon adding movement and iridescent rhinestones bringing a gentle touch of sparkle. The rhinestones are placed in a subtle triangle, guiding your eye across the card and creating a balanced, cohesive look.
A little tip
Placing embellishments in a triangle helps guide your eye across the card and creates a sense of balance. Using an odd number, like three or five rhinestones, often feels more natural and pleasing.
🎨 Let’s explore the card front
In Sheila’s design, the soft bow and layered circle immediately draw your eye, framing the “thank you” sentiment beautifully.
Sheila’s use of gold and Old Olive foliage adds depth and contrast, creating a soft, natural feel behind the focal point.
The patterned paper Sheila selected brings in gentle colour and detail, adding interest without overwhelming the design.
A narrow border neatly frames the patterned layer, helping to define the focal area.
The textured white base adds subtle dimension and a soft background that ties the whole design together.
A few rhinestones add a gentle touch of sparkle, subtly enhancing the focal point.
This design works beautifully because everything supports the central focal point. The layered circle draws your eye first, while the surrounding elements — foliage, pattern, and soft texture — add interest without competing. Sheila has balanced colour, texture, and detail in a way that feels cohesive, allowing each element to enhance the overall design.
💌 Let’s take a look inside
When we open the card, Sheila keeps things soft and intentional, giving us a lovely balance of texture and space
On the left side, she’s used vellum that has been embossed using the Stone and Vine 3D embossing folder. What makes this really special is that it’s not just decorative—it’s actually debossed from the front design, so what we saw raised on the front becomes a soft, pressed texture inside.
This creates a beautiful connection between the outside and inside of the card, without repeating it exactly.
On the right side, Sheila keeps it clean with a layered writing panel using Thick Basic White and Basic White cardstock, all framed with Fresh Freesia.
Down in the corner, she’s added a small stamped image from the Beautifully Celebrated stamp set in Fresh Freesia ink—a simple but very clever touch.
This inside design works beautifully because of the balance Sheila has created.
👉 The left side adds texture and interest without feeling overwhelming
👉 The right side gives plenty of space to write—which is so important in a handmade card
👉 The small stamped image in the corner ties everything back to the front, creating a lovely sense of flow
Nothing feels crowded, and nothing feels forgotten.
Sheila hasn’t tried to fill every space—instead, she’s let each element breathe. That’s what gives the card its elegant, finished feel.
A little takeaway for you
When designing the inside of your cards, you don’t need to start from scratch.
Try this:
• repeating a small element from the front
• keeping one side simple for writing
• adding texture (like embossing or vellum) for interest
It’s those small, thoughtful details that make a handmade card feel complete ❤️

The embossed vellum adds a soft layer of texture, while the gentle layering creates depth without overwhelming the design.
The rhinestones are thoughtfully placed in a visual triangle guiding your eye across the focal point, with a subtle touch of sparkle.
Sentiment
“Thank you” is stamped in Fresh Freesia using the Fabulous Sayings stamp set (January 2026 Product of the Month) and layered on stitched circles from the Stylish Shapes Dies, with a soft vellum layer creating a gentle focal point that complements the design.
Why This Design Works
The sentiment is positioned slightly off-centre, creating a natural sense of movement while allowing the layered foliage to peek out from behind
The stitched circles form a soft focal point, with vellum gently diffusing the patterned background so the sentiment remains clear and easy to read.
Rhinestones are placed in a visual triangle, guiding the eye across the design and back to the sentiment. These small details bring balance and a subtle sense of sparkle without overwhelming the card.
Tools Used
• Paper Trimmer
• Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
• Stampin’ Blocks
• Paper Snips
• Take Your Pick Tool
A little tip
I keep two pairs of scissors—one for paper and one just for ribbon and twine.
I tie a small piece of ribbon to the handle of my ribbon scissors so I always know which pair to use. It keeps my cuts clean and stops the blades from becoming dull.
Adhesives
• Stampin’ Dimensionals
• Multipurpose Liquid Glue
I like using Multipurpose Liquid Glue as it gives me a little time to adjust placement. You only need a small amount, which helps prevent it from squeezing out and making the project sticky.
You could also use other adhesives like Stampin’ Seal or Tear & Tape, depending on your preference and the type of project you’re creating.
What’s your go-to adhesive—do you prefer the flexibility of glue or the convenience of tape?
Why This Card Works
The design centres around a strong vertical panel, drawing the eye straight to the focal point while the embossed background adds subtle texture without competing for attention.
The sentiment is layered over stitched circles with a soft vellum layer, which gently diffuses the patterned paper and keeps the “thank you” clear and easy to read.
The floral Designer Series Paper in Fresh Freesia creates a sense of rhythm and consistency, while the gold mat adds warmth and helps frame the design.
A layered cluster of die-cut foliage sits behind the sentiment, adding depth and interest, while the soft ribbon introduces a horizontal element that balances the vertical layout.
Rhinestones are placed in a visual triangle, guiding the eye across the card and back to the sentiment. These small details bring balance and a gentle touch of sparkle, finishing the card beautifully.
