Fireworks on Paper: A New Year’s Celebration in Card Form

The New Year is a time for fresh beginnings, dazzling celebrations, and, of course, fireworks lighting up the night sky. What better way to capture that vibrant energy than with a handmade card that embodies the festive spirit?

For a team swap in November 2023, I crafted this dazzling greeting card using the Stampin’ Up! Light the Sky Stamp Set and Die Bundle from the Mini Catalogue (September–December 2023). With intricate stamps and coordinating dies, this set creates a breathtaking display of color and motion—just like real fireworks bursting into the night!

The Inspiration

New Year’s Eve has always carried a magical charm—anticipation, excitement, and a sense of possibility. I wanted to reflect all of that in a design that radiates joy and celebration. The layered blending of bold colors against a deep black backdrop creates a striking effect, making the fireworks appear to dance across the card.

Bringing the Card to Life

Using bold ink blending techniques, I created a gradient effect that mimics real firework bursts. The layering of die-cut elements adds depth and movement, making each explosion feel dynamic and full of life. Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals helped to lift certain elements off the base, enhancing the 3D effect.
