Today I’m sharing a beautiful card created by Lin Wheeler.

Lin shared with me that she was inspired by Lynn Dunn (Stamtastic Designs) when she created this card.

This is one of the cards that caught my attention straight away.

At first, you see the colours, textures, and gears.
It already feels balanced and interesting.

But when you open the card…

the inside panel slides up
and reveals the message.

That small movement makes it feel extra special.

This is a lovely example of how simple design details can work together to create something special.

Taking a Closer Look at the Design

There’s something really satisfying about how this card comes together.

At first glance, the gears draw your eye straight to the centre.
From there, your eye naturally moves across the design, taking in all the detail.

The layered elements create depth without feeling heavy.
The stamped background sits quietly behind, adding texture without taking over.

And then there’s the gold embossing… just enough shine to lift everything and catch the light beautifully ✨

It’s a lovely example of how small details can work together to create a balanced and eye-catching card.

Card Design Overview

This is a fun fold card with a simple sliding panel hidden inside.

The overall feel is calm and earthy, with a natural, relaxed look.

The Mossy Meadow base gives a grounded starting point, helping to anchor the whole design.

The gears and layered elements add detail without making it feel too busy.

The stamped background adds soft texture, sitting quietly behind the main design.

The gold embossing brings in a touch of shine, lifting the overall look.

Everything works together to create a balanced and eye-catching card.

Card Front

The focal point is the cluster of gears.

They create movement across the card, even though everything is still.

The green tones keep the design calm and easy to look at.

The layers add depth, helping each piece stand out.

The gold elements add contrast and a little shine.

This balance of colour, texture, and detail is what makes the front work so well.

Inside the Card

Inside the card is where the surprise happens.

When the card is opened,
the panel slides up to reveal the message.

It is a simple mechanism,
but it creates a lovely moment of interaction.

The inside stays clean, which helps the movement stand out.

It connects nicely with the front without feeling overworked.

A Little Tip

If you are trying this style of card, build the fold first before adding decoration. This helps everything move smoothly and keeps the card neat.

What This Sparked for Me

This card made me want to explore more fun folds.

Not complicated ones — just small ideas that add movement.

A sliding panel is a great place to start.

It gives a “wow” moment without needing lots of extra supplies.

It is also easy to adapt to your own style.
