This card was created by Theresa Griffith
for a team card swap (January 2026).
This is one of the cards that caught my eye straight away because of that bold red gear.
It really stands out against the black, white, and grey.
Taking a Closer Look at the Design
This card uses strong colour contrast.
Black and white give a bold base.
The red gear stands out and draws your eye in.
The gears are layered on top.
This gives depth and interest.
The gate fold opens from the centre,
one side… then the other.
This simple gate fold creates a lovely reveal inside.
Card Design Overview
This is a gate fold card with a simple but effective opening from the centre.
The overall look is bold and industrial, with a strong black, white, and grey base.
The bright red gear creates a clear focal point and immediately draws your eye in.
The layered gears add detail and dimension without making the card feel too busy.
The stamped background adds texture and interest, sitting behind the main design.
The fold itself is simple, but it creates a lovely reveal when the card opens.
Everything works together to create a balanced and eye-catching card.
Card Front
The front of the card has a strong layered design.
A large black gear sits across the centre and becomes the main feature.
The bright red gear adds contrast and draws your eye straight in.
Smaller gears are added around it to build interest and balance.
A mix of black, white, and metallic elements keeps the design bold but cohesive.
The background stamping adds subtle texture without taking attention away from the gears.
Inside the Card
The inside of the card is kept clean and simple.
A white panel gives plenty of space to write your message.
Light stamping in the corner adds a small touch of detail.
This keeps the focus on your message while still tying in with the front design.
What this sparked for me
This card made me think about colour choices.
You don’t need lots of colours.
One strong colour can do the hard work for you.
It also made me want to try this fold.
It looks interesting, but it is actually quite simple.
Sometimes simple ideas can create the biggest impact.

Colours & Texture Notes
Black, white, and grey create a strong and balanced base.
The red adds a bold pop of colour and becomes the main focal point.
Layered gears add depth and dimension without making the card feel too busy.
The background stamping adds soft texture behind the main elements.
Touches of metallic and shine lift the overall design.
Why This Card Works
This design works because:
• Strong colour contrast
• Layered elements add depth
• The opening fold adds interest
👉 = a card that really stands out
Final Thought
Sometimes it’s not about copying a card exactly…
It’s about noticing what draws you in
and exploring it in your own way.
There’s always something to learn —
even from a quick look.
Tip:
When most of the card is calm and simple, your bold colour stands out even more.
Just have a go — no pressure.
