“Welcome Little One” – A Whimsical Woodland Keepsake

Swaps are one of the true heartbeats of the papercraft community, and Joanne Whittaker’s enchanting card for the Creative Inker Team Swap reminds us why. Designed using the Storybook Friends Bundle from the January–April 2025 Mini Catalogue, this project is a masterclass in colour, character, and storytelling through stamping.

Team swaps are more than just exchanging beautiful cards—they’re about sharing inspiration, building connection, and seeing a stamp set through someone else’s creative lens. They help demonstrators explore fresh techniques, test new products, and walk away with a ready-made gallery of ideas to share with customers and crafters alike.

Joanne’s card combines a nostalgic storybook feel with tender detail, making it perfect for welcoming a new baby or celebrating a first milestone. Two adorable rabbits, carefully coloured and framed in ornate oval layering, invite warmth and smiles the moment the envelope is opened.

🖼️ Card Front Description

This sweet card is divided horizontally into two distinct sections, both in calming shades of blue. The top half features a soft patterned paper in Lost Lagoon, scattered with delicate florals. At its center sits a layered oval frame—elegantly shaped and edged—with the stamped sentiment: “WELCOME little one” in Pretty Peacock ink.

The lower half has a deeper blue embossed layer, adding texture and visual weight. On it, two charming hand-coloured rabbits bring storybook magic to life—one sits upright holding a green leafy sprig (coloured in Old Olive) while the other stands to the side in a Lemon Lolly-hued dress. Their fur is softly shaded with Crumb Cake and Gray Granite, adding warmth and realism.

The overall feeling is soft, joyful, and gentle—just right for celebrating a new arrival or cherishing a first moment. The balance of pastel tone and crisp colouring creates a classic yet playful finish.

The inside of the card carries through the same soft and tender vibe as the front. Centered on a clean Thick Basic White panel is a sweet little bunny, gently stamped in Memento Black ink and colored with Gray Granite and Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends for soft fur and gentle warmth.

The bunny’s expression is peaceful and endearing—perfectly sized to nestle under a simple, loving sentiment:
“Some bunny loves you.”
The words are stamped in crisp ink and complement the bunny’s charm with just the right touch of sweetness.

No additional embellishment or ink blending competes with the design—leaving a generous amount of white space for your personal message or a note of welcome, love, or comfort. The simplicity makes it versatile for baby showers, birthdays, or just to say “I’m thinking of you.”
